My Volunteering Days with Dads Can by Ed Angell
After joining the Dads Can team as a volunteer in 2017, I’ve found the team to be honest and genuine, the encouragement and advice they offer to Dads is top class! The project has a professional yet down to earth approach, which the Dads can relate to and respond. After all Dads deserve it!
Some of the activities that I have participated in such as dry stone walling, and a variety of other workshops such as art, cooking and fitness have really been interesting, building individuals confidence and creating trust within the group. Bacon sandwiches in the Wye Valley on a cold morning makes the volunteering experience truly memorable and gives dads the perfect opportunity to share their problems and support each other on their journey.
I have also been on some eye opening training with the project, which has enhanced my degree studies such as safeguarding and befriending. It has to be said that Shane deserves the high regard and praise that he receives from the Dads.
I have to say thank you very much for the opportunity to participate in the service and for the very warm welcome I have received from you. Really well done on all your efforts to provide a successful service for dads that makes such a huge difference to families across Gwent. It is comforting to know that guys like you offer such great support within our communities.
From the bottom of my heart many congratulations on the success of the project, I hope all your hard work and efforts will be rewarded in project continuation and remember I’ll always be here to help in any way I can.
